No doubt this would have formed part of the original city walls.

I do not think much has actually changed in this scene .. we were near here in January - lots of brightly lit shops and bars now.

Florence - Hidden away

This small church in Florence is hidden away on the banks of the River Arno.

You can just see it through the trees as you walk by on your way to the Ponte Vecchio .

Livorno - Little Venice

Although Livorno is a large industrial area and busy port there is still a scenic part to this Tuscan city.

Here waterways thread their way through the streets and are packed with small boats.

I do not think Venice has to worry too much about the competition for tourists.

These pictures taken on a very wet and miserable day early this week.

Livorno has one advantage over Pisa and Florence - it is a lot cheaper for a coffee in a bar ...
