Pisa - At the end of the street.

What finer view at the end of the street but the Cathedral of St. Mary in Pisa.

The white marble showing the building at it's best ...

Pisa - The Tower

For those of you who must climb to the top
of the Tower this is what the stairs look like.

There are a lot of them ....

.

Firenze - Duomo e Campanile

Florence - 1940's postcard

I doubt if the cathedral has had any major additions or changes in the last 65 years.

Pisa - The Town

Once you have climbed to the top of the Tower this is the view of Pisa that you will get.

You decide if it is worth the effort !!!

Pisa - Torre Duelfa Cittadella

This impressive building can be found on the banks of the River Arno at Pisa.

No doubt this would have formed part of the original city walls.

Livorno - Via Vittorio Emanuele

An old  ( 65 years ) postcard of Livorno - Via Vittorio Emanuele

I do not think much has actually changed in this scene .. we were near here in January - lots of brightly lit shops and bars now.

Florence - Hidden away

This small church in Florence is hidden away on the banks of the River Arno.

You can just see it through the trees as you walk by on your way to the Ponte Vecchio .

Livorno - Little Venice

Livorno - Quartiere La Venezia

Although Livorno is a large industrial area and busy port there is still a scenic part to this Tuscan city.

Here waterways thread their way through the streets and are packed with small boats.

I do not think Venice has to worry too much about the competition for tourists.

These pictures taken on a very wet and miserable day early this week.

Livorno has one advantage over Pisa and Florence - it is a lot cheaper for a coffee in a bar ...
