The bridge of Sighs or in Italian Ponte de Sospire. 

It links the Doges Palace ( Il Palazzo di Doge ) with the New Prisons ( Il Prigioni Nuovo )

For many prisoners it was from this bridge that they had their last view of Venice - hence the name.
